England cricket team’s hat-trick at the BBC’s 2019 Sports Championship

England cricket team brought home an honorable hat-trick at the BBC’s 2019 Sports Championship. Ben Stokes won the main prize for his heroic efforts in the Ashes and World Cup campaign.

The F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton finished second while sprinter Dina Asher-Smith finished in the top three. But it was England’s World Cup winner, Stokes, who was crowned a great year by taking home the prestigious individual award.

The 28-year-old was very emotional when he walked up on the stage to collect his booty and he was still modest in his speech.

“Two years ago was a difficult time for me in my life and I had a lot of people helping me through it. My great manager and friend Neil Fairbrother, you’re not just an agent, you’re an incredible man. I don’t know how you treated Andrew Flintoff and you, you and Audrey are extraordinary people.”, said Ben Stokes.

Stokes achieved an unbeaten record of 135 in his third Astro Test victory against Australia at Headingley.

Throughout the entire World Cup campaign, people showed their faith, love and support and we are extremely grateful for that.

Jos Buttler took the trees in the World Cup final to take the match to a blockbuster named The Moment of the Year.

He said: That’s great for cricket all over the UK. We have been working very hard for four years and until then, it was unbelievable.

Meanwhile, Stokes also praised his wife, Clare Ratcliffe, who was present at the awards ceremony, with her family living in New Zealand.
